14. Weekend Snapshot : Brigus Blueberry Festival

Brigus Blueberry Festival

Brigus a town in Conception Bay NL, around 45 minutes from St. John's. Founded on 1612 but still relevant in 2018, relevant for more than one reason. The town keeps its quintessential nature but not forgetting the modernities of this century.

I have been to Brigus once for a farmers market ( Some Good Market ) late fall of last year, it was Sunday and not much was on the go but I could tell it is such a unique small town, paradise for photographers, bloggers, tourists and urban explorers.

Ever since living in Newfoundland year round I've heard of the famous blueberry festival that takes place in Brigus and this year is the year I finally made my attendance. I went with my three work friends, we left early morning ( around 10 ) in hopes of avoiding traffic and getting a great parking spot.

This festival was from Friday the 10th to Sunday the 12th of August. Here are some of the activities available during the festival.

What I wore :

Olive green baggy overalls, with a white crochet crop top and brown leather sandals. Hair is a high ponytail, to avoid any frizziness and big sunglasses.

We got to Brigus as planned, avoided traffic and got a great parking spot. We did not went to the festival first but explored the small town first and let me tell you it is the most beautiful town there can possibly be. I feel like I was thrown back in time to the 1920s with made me soo happy,  at bliss and very peaceful. The town placed by the water, keeping its deep roots makes this place the perfect place to come for the day, explore and get some insane photos for the #gram.

The picture below is from the Restaurant SeaSalt & Thyme a Gastro Pub located in Brigus ( duuuh ), it has been so publicized and everyone is talking about how good and amazing their food is . Also is you are in search for a staycation or an actual vacation you can stay in this fabulous looking house and have the restaurant available to you 24/7. Having said that I cannot wait to try it myself, maybe with a special someone.

I just can't get over how beautiful this town is, I could be there all day just waking around and taking many many pictures. Don't you agree this town is so perfectly kept.  Tell me if you cannot wait to visit this place.

Okay here is the truth about the Festival, like the tittle say I took over the one hour trip for the blueberry festival. Lets say that it was not disappointed but there was something to be expected. I was  hoping to buy many blueberries, get blueberry treats, and blueberry everything but hold and behold there was no blueberries like some tarts but not fresh ones.

Overall there where many home baked goods ranging from bread, tarts, muffins and pies. They also had some jams and skincare products. I got a mushroom bead loaf, two blue berry tarts and two crew necks from the local company called Saltwater Designs. The crewnecks are very sturdy warm and have really cute Newfie slogans that make them perfect for special gifts or just proudly wearing repin' your inner Newfie slang. I have dusty pink that says " Street " and I got Dann one that says "slaty".

We cannot forget about the snow cones, I had two and I could've had like 10 or more !

That is a wrap for the Blueberry Fest, what did you do this weekend ? Have you been to any festivals this summer ? Do you love blue Berrys?
